Pilar “Pili” Grace:

In March of 2007 I walked into CrossFit Atlanta, and Mike G. put me through 6 minutes of Cindy. I hurt for a week and loved it. Finally, I had found something that didn’t bore me and made me want to push myself. I had given birth to my second child nine months earlier, and I was in bad shape due to the fact that both my pregnancies were spent on bed rest/limited activity and they were only seven months apart. While I was not “fat” I was extremely weak. I could not do a knee push-up, I could not shoulder press a fifteen pound bar for more than a few reps. I got tired going up stairs. As a former rower and gymnast, this was not acceptable. I had already tried to get into “weightlifting” and running, but I could never motivate myself past a few weeks, and results were discouraging. Six months after starting CrossFit I could do pull-ups and clean and jerk 85 pounds. Thanks to POSE, I can run without killing the knees gymnastics gave me. To say that CrossFit has changed my life is an understatement! I went on to become a coach at CrossFit 10 for two years, training everyone from grandmothers to former football players to stay-at-home moms to active military personnel. For two years, I ran CFOZ as a non-profit, on-line affiliate to benefit those who has been in a position similar to mine. My training has own training has lead me down athletic paths I never dreamed of being able to accomplish! Every day CrossFit has honed me physically and mentally. That is what I want to bring to others. Now, I am living my dream of owning my own affiliate; helping to build the CrossFit Community in Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County.
